New to EZLynx? This step-by-step tutorial gets you from login to first comparative quote in under 30 minutes — no hand-holding from your principal required.

Your principal dropped the login credentials on your desk, said the agency switched to EZLynx last month, and told you to figure it out. There is no formal training scheduled. The handbook is a link to a video series that is four years old. The first client call is in two hours.
This tutorial is written for that situation. It does not cover every EZLynx feature — it covers what you need to be functional today: logging in and orienting yourself, adding a client, running a comparative quote, managing a basic policy record, handling documents, setting reminders, and avoiding the mistakes that create headaches later. All steps describe the general workflow as of our last review; specific menu labels and screen layouts may differ slightly in your version of EZLynx.
Go to app.ezlynx.com and enter the credentials your administrator provided. If this is your first login, EZLynx will prompt you to set a new password. Do that before anything else — default credentials are frequently shared across multiple staff, and you want a personal login on record for the audit trail from day one.
After login, you land on the main dashboard. Before touching anything else:
The dashboard has several panels. The most important for a new user are the Renewals panel (upcoming policy renewals sorted by date), the Tasks panel (assigned to-do items), and the Carrier Downloads notification area (incoming policy data from integrated carriers). Take a few minutes to identify where each of these panels sits before moving on — the layout can be customized, so your view may differ from screenshots in any tutorial you find online.
EZLynx uses an applicant-centric record structure. Every client, quote, and policy is organized under an Applicant record. Finding the right workflow here matters because the most common new-user error — duplicate records — originates in this step.
Before adding a new client, always search first. Use the search bar at the top of the screen and search by last name, phone number, or email. If the client was migrated from a previous system, they may already exist with partial data.
If the client is genuinely new:
The Client Record Structure in EZLynx links all quotes and policies back to the applicant. If you accidentally create two applicant records for the same person, their policy history will be split. EZLynx has a merge tool, but it takes administrator access and time to fix. Search before you create.

The comparative rater is the feature most agents use daily, and it is where EZLynx earns its place in agencies focused on personal lines. Once you have an applicant record with driver and vehicle (or property) data, the quoting workflow runs as follows:
For details on how comparative rating technology works under the hood, see our comparative rater glossary entry. If you are evaluating whether EZLynx is the right rater for your agency, our EZLynx vs. PL Rating comparison covers the key differences.
Once a client binds coverage, the policy needs to live in EZLynx properly — not just as a quote record. EZLynx manages policies in two ways: manual policy entry and carrier downloads.
Carrier Downloads are the preferred method. When a carrier is integrated with EZLynx's download service, policy data flows automatically from the carrier into your EZLynx records when a policy is issued or renewed. This keeps policy details, premium changes, and endorsement history current without manual re-entry. To benefit from this, your administrator must have enabled the carrier download connection during agency setup.
If a policy has an endorsement mid-term — a vehicle addition, coverage change, or address update — update the policy record in EZLynx to reflect the change. With carrier downloads, endorsement data often flows in automatically, but verify this for your specific carrier integrations. Agencies that eventually outgrow EZLynx's policy management tend to move to Applied Epic for larger commercial books or HawkSoft for agencies prioritizing relationship-based client workflows.
EZLynx stores documents at the applicant level. To attach a file:
ACORD form generation is one of EZLynx's more useful features but confuses many new users. The system can populate standard ACORD forms using the data already in the applicant and policy record.
A common new-user mistake: generating an ACORD form before the applicant record is complete, then manually typing data into the form, and never updating the EZLynx record. This defeats the purpose. Keep the record complete and let the form generation do the work.
EZLynx has a task and reminder system that, when used consistently, functions as a lightweight pipeline management tool. For a new user, the two most important things to configure are renewal reminders and follow-up tasks.
Renewal Reminders:
Manual Tasks:

Knowing what goes wrong early saves cleanup time later. These are the four most frequently observed errors among new EZLynx users.
1. Creating duplicate applicant records. This is the most common and most damaging mistake. A duplicate means split policy history, split documents, and missed renewals if reminders are attached to only one record. Search before you create — always.
2. ACORD form confusion. New users often confuse generating an ACORD form from EZLynx with submitting an application to a carrier. Generating the form produces a PDF populated with your applicant data. Submission to a carrier is a separate step — either via carrier portal, email, or through EZLynx's carrier connections if that workflow is configured.
3. Not enabling or checking carrier downloads. If downloads are active but your administrator has not connected a specific carrier, policies for that carrier will not flow in automatically. You will not get an error — you simply will not get the data. Check which carriers are download-enabled in your agency setup and maintain a manual process for the ones that are not.
4. Skipping the coverage comparison on quote results. EZLynx returns quotes from multiple carriers, but the quoted coverage limits can vary. A carrier's default deductible or liability limit may differ from what you requested or what the client expects. Review the coverage details line by line before presenting the quote — presenting a lower premium without flagging that the coverage is also lower is a professional and E&O risk.

InsurAItools earns no referral fees from EZLynx or Vertafore. This tutorial was produced through independent testing and review of the platform. We updated this guide based on the interface as of our last review in June 2026; specific UI elements and menu structures may vary by version and agency configuration. EZLynx's learning curve is real but not steep. The core workflow — search for client, build applicant record, rate, bind, manage the policy record — follows a logical sequence once you understand the applicant-centric data model. The mistakes that hurt new users most (duplicate records, skipped coverage comparisons) are avoidable with the habits described above. Get those right in your first week and the rest of the platform opens up naturally.
EZLynx offers a mobile-optimized web experience, but as of our last review, the dedicated mobile app functionality is limited compared to the desktop interface. Most agents handle quoting and policy management on a desktop or laptop browser. If mobile access is a priority in your agency, confirm current mobile capabilities with EZLynx directly before committing to the platform — this is an area that has been in development.
Most agents report being functional within a day for the tasks covered in this tutorial: adding clients, running comparative quotes, and reviewing the renewals queue. Mastering the full platform — including carrier download configuration, ACORD form generation, automation rules, and reporting — typically takes two to four weeks of daily use. The steepest part of the curve is usually the carrier download setup, which involves administrator-level configuration.
Yes. EZLynx supports bulk client import via CSV file through an import wizard that maps spreadsheet columns to EZLynx fields. Before importing, clean your data: remove duplicates, standardize date formats, and confirm that required fields (name, address, DOB for auto clients) are populated. Incomplete or malformed rows are rejected by the importer and must be corrected and re-uploaded. For large migrations from another system, EZLynx's support team can advise on the process — it is worth a conversation before attempting a migration with thousands of records. For a broader look at migration best practices, see our how to migrate AMS without data loss guide.
